This
is a vintage Columbia Masterworks LP Record from the
Year 1955 entitled "The Greatest Moments in
Sports". The
album was produced by Bud Greenspan and James
Hammerstein. It includes one 33 1/3 Long Play Record, 20
pages of memorable black and white sports photographs,
and a special recollection article by famed sports
writer Red Smith. The record album includes sounds
and voices of some of the greatest sports figures and
announcers between 1920 and 1954. Those featured
include: Lou Gehrig, Babe Ruth, Connie Mack, Bobby
Thomson, Knute Kockne, Jesse Owens, Roger Bannister,
Grantland Rice, Jack Dempsey, Gene Tunney, Joe Louis,
Cookie Lavagetto, Mel Allen, Johnny Vandermeer, and some
12 others Six major sports are covered including:
Boxing, Football, Tennis, Baseball, Olympic Track, and
Horse Racing. At least 40 historic sports moments are
chronicled in voice and sound. The First Page features
art work by renown Sporting News Artist Willard Mullin.
