This is an original 1948 Louisville Slugger
Advertisement Poster/Sign. Advertising the Genuine Babe
Ruth Louisville slugger Bat, also used, and donated to
the Movie "The Babe Ruth Story." This sign
would be distributed to dealers that carry Louisville
slugger products for display. The ad Reads; "This
"on Location" Shot shows the Great Babe Ruth
giving the screen Babe (Bill Bendix) pointers on how he
gripped his Louisville Slugger Bat" The ad also
features the Western Union Telegram sent to Louisville
Slugger in thanks for their contribution to the production
of the Movie. On July 26, 1948, Babe Ruth attended the
premier of the film about his life, The Babe Ruth
Story, which starred William Bendix (ironically
Bendix had been a Yankee bat boy in the 1920's.) Ruth
however was feeling very ill, and left well before the
film was finished. Three weeks later, on Aug.16 1948 Babe
Ruth Passed away. The Western Union telegram in the
poster is Dated July 12.
