More than one-quarter of a million
youngsters have been admitted free to
the Pittsburgh Pirates games since the
Pittsburgh Pirates Knot Hole Gang was
formed in 1952. In 1988 the Pirates
Knot Hole Gang was sponsored by Hills
Department store, which purchased
30,000 tickets. Youngsters 14 and under
who registered at one of 33
participating stores after February 29,
received three pairs of tickets to
games, and a Knot Hole Gang membership
card.
Members would receive a Pittsburgh Pirates Knot Hole Gang Members Kit
which consisted of a Knot Hole Gang
baseball cap, Baseball card album,
baseball bat pen, Pirates Sticker, and
a Pirates Hills Department Store Knot
Hole Gang button. Members would also
receive discounts by presenting Knot
Hole Gang coupons with their membership
card at participating Hills stores.
