NOTES:

In Tribute to Mickey Mantle, NY Walks Central Park was a Walkathon in support of organ and tissue donation, to benefit the National Kidney Foundation, of New York & New Jersey. The walk held on October 29, 1995 in central Park, was led by Mickey Mantles Children - David, Danny, Mickey Jr. and other celebrities. Posters were distributed to unions, and organizations, to promote the event. The New York Daily news, one of the sponsors, featured newspaper entry forms, which offered participants who raised $50.00 or more a limited Edition Mickey Mantle T-Shirt, by Bill Gallo.

The Hanes T-Shirt depicts a modified version of The Daily News sports cartoonist, Bill Gallo, 1988 illustration of Mickey Mantle titled "Hall of Fame." The original Mickey Mantle - "Hall of Fame" illustration, included in series III, of Bill Gallo's "A Look Back" Baseball Lithograph Set of 24, featured a small sample of "The Mick, Mickey Mantle" career highlights and "Hall of Fame 1974." Below the "The Mick" T-Shirt illustration reads: "Be A Hero... Be A Donor, National Kidney Foundation, of New York & New Jersey"

A rare Mickey Mantle NY Walks Central Park National Kidney Foundation Benefit Poster was also produced for this event. The poster was printed in limited numbers and distributed to area hospitals, unions, organizations and sponsors connected with the benefit. The posters were accompanied with information pamphlets.
