NOTES:

These cards are D311 Pacific Coast League Biscuit Cards. The 72 card set was issued in 1911 by the  Pacific Coast Biscuit co. The Pacific Coast Biscuit company had established itself as a leading player in the cookie/cracker/candy industry in the early 1900s and had several large markets along the west coast.

A minor league baseball league the Pacific Coast league was the premier regional baseball league, with no Major League Baseball team existing west of St. Louis. It is one of two leagues, along with the International League, playing at the AAA level. Teams included names such as the Hollywood Stars, Los Angeles Angels, Oakland Oaks, Portland Beavers, Sacramento Solons, San Diego Padres, San Francisco Seals, and Seattle Rainiers.

These Cards are strikingly similar to several other sets that were issued around that time, namely the e99/e100 Bishops and t212 Obak sets.  However it also bears a great resemblance to the 72 card d310 set released by the same company. The back of the cards have Complete check lists of teams and players from this set. The set contains action photos and utilized soft pastels in designing scenic backdrops.  The most recognizable name in the set is Roger Peckinpaugh who went on to become the American League MVP in 1925.  Buck Weaver, who was issued in the d311 set, was left out of this issue. Thin paper stock was used in the production of these cards and since they tend to have been well handled, these cards are actually very difficult to come across, especially in high grade.
